Best Batting Helmet with Jaw Guard for 2023
Baseball is one of the most popular spectator sports in North America, along with football, hockey, and basketball. Every year, many baseball fans watch the Major League Baseball (MLB) series hoping that their favorite team would make it to the finals.
While baseball is considered a limited-contact sport, players can be put at risk of injury when they are hit by a wild pitch, collide against another player, or even simply catching the ball, which is why batting helmets with jaw guard have become so popular.
Hence, wearing a helmet is a must for players whether they are at-bat, running the bases, or receiving a pitch to shield their face and head from impact. Donning a helmet is also a mandatory safety precaution for base coaches, players in coach’s boxes, and ball shaggers.

The Right Size Helmet
Batting helmets have evolved over many decades to provide the protection that comes with a modern helmet. That being said, it can’t protect your head from potential injury if it is not the right size.
You must choose the right size helmet to ensure that you receive the best protection without obstructing your view of the ball and your surroundings.
Also, if you wear a well-fitting helmet, you can concentrate on your game-play better because you don’t have to constantly adjust the position of the helmet.
To determine your helmet size, you must measure the circumference of your head. You can grab a tape measure, then wrap it around the area where the helmet sits on your head. Typically, it’s about an inch or 2 centimeters above your eyebrows.
If you don’t own a tape measure, you can use a piece of string as a substitute. To get the size of your head circumference, measure the length of the string using a ruler.
Note the measurement in both centimeters and inches as helmet brands will indicate one or the other. Sometimes, brands will have helmet sizes in small, medium, large, or extra-large together with a chart that indicates the range of measurements for each size.
However, more often than not, baseball helmet size will be shown in hat size. Even then, you still need to measure in inches or centimeters in order to convert to hat size.

NOCSAE Batting Helmets
When shopping for a batting helmet, look for the SEI certification label. If the helmet is SEI-certified, it means that it meets the NOCSAE safety and performance standards for batting helmets (ND022-21).
Also, check if the label indicates whether the helmet can be re-certified or not. If the helmet cannot be re-certified, it would show the expiration date of the current NOCSAE certification. Otherwise, it would say how often the helmet must be re-conditioned and re-certified.
Batting helmets due for reconditioning and re-certification must be taken to a NAERA expert. Once re-certified, it can be used again until the next reconditioning date comes.
Best Batting Helmet with Jaw Guard
Failure to follow the rules on helmet use not only increases the probability of a player or non-player being injured but could also lead to their ejection from the game and the imposition of the appropriate disciplinary action.
Baseball helmets typically come in three different styles, namely open face helmets, fast-pitch helmets, and batting helmets with jaw guard. When batting, you are strongly encouraged to wear a batting helmet with a jaw guard.
The jaw guard, or C-flap, helmet is designed with a plastic barrier or deflector that protects one side of the face. The position of the jaw guard depends on your batting stance. For example, the jaw guard should be on the left side of the helmet if you’re standing with your left side facing the pitcher.
